I try to maintain a list of Q2 modifications and work activities on this blog.

The past few weeks I've been working on rebuilt heads and a new cam grind.  I removed the heads from my spare EJ-22 and sent them in for reconditioning.  The cams went to Delta for their 220 grind.  I recieved everything back last week, yesterday I spent the day in the shop removing the existing heads and installing the new.  It all went pretty smoothly and I did not have to remove the engine from the airplane which was a big plus.

Today I ran the engine for about 40 minutes on the ground. No leaks and no problems.  The engine sounds slightly meatier but that's purely subjective. More...

I installed a new tailwheel on the Q a week or two ago.  This new unit is a little larger but much more rubber and much softer.  I REALLY like the way it feels on the runway - it is much quieter/softer but also seems more "sticky".  That is purely a feeling and not fact.  The old, hard wheel just seemed to slide really easy where this one doesn't.  A bit more info here

Also installed new main gear tires.  I used the Lamb tires which are a bit shorter than the original Q2 tires but they are working fine.

More details here.
