Cowling Modifications 2009
Fairly simple process if not time consuming. I cut off the lower portion of the cowling and then used it as a mold to fill with expanding foam. After removing the "mold", I fit the cowling to the airplane, and shaped the foam. Then covered the foam with sheet rock mud and smoothed/shaped when dry. Added a mold release and then fiberglassed. Had to make "tunnels" for the exhaust and coolant lines the run down the belly. I've not yet filled/painted but am flying with this cowl now.
